When we were loading this fact brief, we had a lot of trouble getting it to save properly. The Fact Brief content would save, but the original source URL and the sources would get partially wiped each time we saved. This problem persisted in both my development and production environment even after I installed all WordPress core and plugin updates, disabled a caching plugin I thought might be the culprit, and recreated the Fact Brief post from scratch.

In the end, I grew suspicious of directional double quotes (“ and ”) vs just the non-directional ( ” ) that we were inputting into the source names. The first time I tried to save with the directional quotes replaced with non-directional quotes, everything saved correctly.

The complete list sources including the potentially-problematic directional quotes that we were trying to input is provided below. The version saved in WordPress is identical except with the quotes replaced.

Are Turning Point USA clubs mandated in Arizona high schools?
NO

Nothing in Arizona State Board of Education policy or state law requires high schools to host Turning Point USA clubs. Arizona follows the Equal Access Act, a federal law that prohibits public schools from discriminating against clubs based on political or religious viewpoints.

Some states—Nebraska, Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, Montana, Florida, Tennessee and Indiana—have announced efforts that encourage public high schools to open Turning Point USA chapters, although doing so is not required.

Arizona also passed a 2026 law requiring schools to allow “patriotic youth groups” to speak to students. The law defines the organizations using a federal designation that includes groups such as Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. Turning Point USA is not currently included.
